<UPDATE> Beta v1.02 is live!


New Strife Project beta update is live! This update focuses on fixing many of the issues that have been reported over the past few days since the initial release. A big highlight of this update is many balancing changes for Dave, as well as new AI for CPU matches (HUGE thanks to FatCat for helping me out with the AI). Rose still has a few things that need updating here and there, but she'll get her own follow-up update soon. See below for a comprehensive list of changes!

ALSO I will note that starting Sunday, the development will be put on hold for about a week, so the next update will take longer.

MENUS/UI

  • The "Default Values" option in the options menu has been temporarily disabled due to issues caused by it, which will be addressed in a later update.
  • Music tracks have been given proper loop points

GAMEPLAY

General

  • Power gain for successful hits has been increased
  • Maplehoof and swapped characters in Tag mode no longer get stuck at the edge on the Strider Rooftop stage (additionally, the boundaries of the Strider Rooftop stage have been altered)
  • Dave & Rose's launchers (s.HK) can no longer juggle characters in the air
  • Lv 5 supers no longer have the cutscene portion appear behind stage foregrounds (like the velvet pillow in Lalonde Manor)
  • AI has been completely reprogrammed (check your difficulty settings in Options > Arcade Settings!!!)

Rose

  • Jaspersprite grabs are no longer blockable
  • Ride the Ogre (Lv 5) is no longer blockable, it also is not punishable during the starting animation anymore.
  • Fixed a bug where Rose being knocked out of her anti-air grab mid animation would cause the opponent to float in the air in their "standing" position
  • Rose's ground level yarn grab has more combo options after she pulls the opponent to her
  • Rose's a.HK now knocks the player the opponent ground

Dave

  • Smuppet Smackdown (Lv 5) now deals more damage to the opponent
  • Dave's s.LP has a shorter hitbox, which no longer goes way ahead of what is visible
  • s.HP and c.HK hitboxes now cover more of their visible range
  • Lv 1 Crow special has a new startup animation, coming from the side of the screen instead of the top, allowing for more reaction time as well as more options to avoid the crow.
  • Lv 1 Crow can now be chained into with various air attacks
  • Only one crow can be active at a time (Lv 1 or Lv 3)
  • Fixed a bug where Lv 1 crow could be activated in the air with 0 meter
  • Fixed a bug where Lv 3 crow could be activated with less than 3 meters if it's combo'd into from another move
  • The input for Insufferable Prick (Z-motion/dragon punch motion) has been given more flexibility
  • Apple Juice taunt now takes 10 ticks longer to finish before giving Dave a bar of power
  • Dodge move (c.LK) can now be cancelled out of by jumping
